First time! And an entirely different terroir from the hills, now loamy gravel with a little loess, though Helmut referred to a vein of quartzite - and the wine surely was like Nahe-meets-Berg-Rottland, smoky and curranty, deeper-voiced and juicier, with a roasted-beet sweetness, more savory and corporeal. But lovely! I just gotta get used to this sudden new language.

Donnhoff's 2006 Kreuznacher Krotenpfuhl Riesling Spatlese smells of pear, yellow cherry and honeysuckle. With luscious, honeyed richness and textural plushness, yet bright fresh fruit, invigorating salinity and mineral pungency, and terrific penetration, this kaleidoscopically dynamic wine could keep you occupied for a long time. I would anticipate up to two decades cellaring.

Wine Spectator
Very good cut keeps the apricot, mango and slate notes focused and incisive. This is even a tad sharp on the finish, which is unusual for the vintage. Fine and filigree. Drink now through 2022.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
